Critical literacy game in classrooms:  Astria – Countdown to Impact

PHASE ONE

During Phase One of Developing in Digital Worlds, our research team visited schools and early childhood centres, asking teachers about their use of digital devices in teaching children social and cognitive skills. The responses from teachers are summarised in the e-pamphlets below.

Teachers in early childhood education

We asked 14 teachers at 4 early childhood centres (a mix of English language and bilingual) about the use of digital devices in teaching children’s social and cognitive skills.

Teachers in later adopting English medium schools

In these later adopting schools, the students are at the initial stages of digital interaction. We asked 10 teachers at 4 different English medium schools about their use of digital devices in teaching children’s social and cognitive skills.

Kaiako in later adopting Māori medium schools

In these later adopting schools, the students are at the initial stages of digital interaction. We visited 3 Māori medium kura and asked 5 kaiako about how they use digital devices to teach tauira cognitive and social skills.
